Bolton remains unbeaten with 2-2 draw versus Birmingham City

// August 29th, 2010 // Updates

Bolton remains unbeaten in the 2010-11 Premier League season as the Wanderers came from two goals down today to tie Birmingham City, 2-2, at Reebok Stadium.

Things looked dour for Bolton who found itself down 2-0 early in the second half. The Wanderers also played the final 54 minutes of the match with only 10 men after starting goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen was sent off in the first half for slapping Birmingham City’s Roger Johnson in the face.

With no quit in their game, the first Bolton goal in the comeback was a penalty kick converted by team captain Kevin Davies who was also the player fouled on the play. The Wanderers then equalized with a fantastic free kick goal from Robbie Blake with 10 minutes remaining.

Stu Holden started the match and played 77 minutes before being substituted for by Mark Davies. Holden nearly scored his first goal in the Premiership late in the first half.

With the draw, Bolton has one win and two draws through three matches. With five points, Bolton is in a tie for fourth place in the Barclays Premier League. Bolton will enjoy some down time thanks to FIFA’s international dates and will not play again until Sept. 11 when it travels to play at Arsenal.
