Stu: “I always dreamed of playing in World Cup – but I never thought it would be for America”

The Daily Record, a newspaper in Scotland, has written a feature about Stuart Holden and his play in the 2010 World Cup. Holden was born in Scotland and moved to the United States at the age of 10.
Stu said: “I have been immersed in American culture since the age of 10, I’ve represented US youth teams and also played at the Olympics. It has now given me a great sense of pride to be able to represent the United States at the World Cup. I’m still ingrained with Scottish culture and traditions and I know a lot of people are rooting for me during these finals and it’s good to know because I’m also still very proud of my Scottish heritage. Scottish people are supporting me as a Scot playing in the World Cup finals and don’t hate me for playing for the United States and I appreciate that.”
